Here I am on Manobier beach, just after sunset, listening to the sea's healing song ...

Pembrokeshire is special in our hearts as it's where Mr Fenwick and I experienced our first holiday together back in 2002. It is a place of ancient tombs, sparkling coastline, historic castles, beautiful scenery, and inspirational art.
On this occasion, we stayed in St Florence and took the opportunity to visit Laugharne. This is where poet and writer, Dylan Thomas, once lived and the village was inspiration for his captivating play `Under Milkwood'. We spent a lovely few hours there.
We also visited Tenby, Carew Castle (an inspiring circular walk), and St Davids.
It was a refreshing -albeit short- visit and just lovely to return to this special place. It was also a perfect way to celebrate the completion of my first writing MA course units and, most importantly, a magical way to celebrate my dear Mr Fenwick's 50th birthday!! Yes, my lovely man has reached a special milestone of his own although people are amazed when they find out his age. He doesn't even look 40 never mind 50!!
Here is a collage of our trip ... including a picture of inside Dylan's writing hut!

(L-R - Carew Castle; St Davids Cathedral; Mr Fenwick & Family; Laugharne Castle; Dylan Thomas' Writing Hut; and Manobier Bay.)
I am still enjoying some slow time and have been healing my overworked head with art - experimenting with my own visual creativity and taking great inspiration from other artists' work. Soon, I'll be ready for the next step on my writing journey ... and I dream of a longer return to Pembrokeshire!

Nice story - This would be ideal for the visit wales blog competition you should enter it (Google "wales blog competition")
Thank you, Dale. I'll definitely take a look!
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay in Pembrokeshire
Thank you, Pembrokeshirebusiness. We'll certainly be visiting again!
Hi Carol Anne, sounds like it was as lovely trip. I love Dylan Thomas's writing hut. I love the idea of a writing hut! That's what I want.
Best birthday wishes to your Mr Fenwick (you're right, from his photo, I'd have never guessed his age). Also, hope you show us some of the results of your visual creativity some time...
Hi there Cheryl ... If you're ever over here, you must visit Dylan's writing hut and boat house! It's in such an inspirational setting.
On behalf of Mr Fenwick, thank you for your dear wishes. I'm going to ask him to share his secrets with us for a future blog post! As for the visual work, I hope to post something soon. Watch this space as the saying goes. ;-)
Sending you much love and bright moments. xx
Dear one:
I'm so glad you are having a much needed vacation and on such a lovely place as it is Pembrokeshire.
Indeed a wonderful inspiration from all that beauty!
Happy birthday to your love! :)
That ocean look so peaceful and I can just imagine the wonderful scent of salt and clean air it has! Enjoy!! xoxo
That picture of you on Manobier beach is just gorgeous.
"A hut of one's own". That is a book that has yet to be written.;-)We just looked at a house that had a little writing temple on the property. I didn't like the house but the writing temple( how the homeowner described it) was enough to make me consider the house we didn't like.
It seems as if you had a lovely break. Well deserved. And, happy bday to your love. They say 50 is the new 20.;-)
Lena, my dear friend, I've taken your good advice and it's been lovely having a break. It's only when I stopped did I realise just how tired I was. Slowly, my vitality is growing again. Thank you for my love's birthday wishes. They are so very much appreciated. As always, sending you lots of love and bright moments. xx
La Belette Rouge - Thank you, bright spirit. You're so kind. A Writing Temple! Wow, that sounds so grand! And thank you too for Mr Fenwick's birthday wishes. He is definitely liking 50 being the new 20! ;-) Wishing you lots of blissful moments. xx
Thanks for visiting me on no chickadees! What a lovely blog you have. The photos are dream-like. I especially like the one with the light streaming through the trees. Glad you enjoyed your break. If you are still obsessed with harps, Edinburgh has a yearly harp festival. Each year I tell myself I'm going to go, but then I forget or end up saying "next year." You have inspired me to put my foot down - this year I MUST go.
Glad you had a good trip, lovely photo's. I like the interior of Dylans hut - it looks like he could walk back into it any moment and carry on writing. Happy birthday to Mr Fenwick.
Thank you for your kind comments on my blog :)
Those photos are amazing! Sounds like it was a wonderful trip!
Thank you PurestGreen for your lovely comments. Oh yes, I'm still obsessed with the thought of learning the harp. As soon as I've finished my course, I hope to investigate further. Good to hear that there is a yearly harp festival in my favourite city! I will have to find out more - and maybe see you there!
Hello Sarah! I was thinking exactly the same looking through the windowed door of Dylan's writing shed. It's as if no time has passed. Thank you so much for Mr Fenwick's birthday wishes.
Hi Suzanne - Thank you for your kind comments. Pembrokeshire is indeed a beautiful place and we hope to return to South Wales in the not too distant future.
Sending you all lots of love and sparkling light. xx
Hi Carol Anne, been back a week now, and seem to be running round in ever decreasing circles and achieving absolutely nothing. Tremough (and Falmouth) was all I'd hoped it would be, the campus and facilities were A1, and still crowded even during the holidays. Guess that reflects the fact that it's a fair way home from down there.
I haven't completed the rewrite of 'A Candle for Peace', but it's there, bubbling away inside my head just waiting for me to find the time.
We haven't found any accommodation yet, had a look at 3 while we were down there, but nothing was quite right, so the search goes on.
Best wishes,
Chris.
Great to hear from you, Chris! It only seems like moments since you were on your way down to UCF. Time is passing far too quickly! It sounds like you had a successful trip. As for suitable accomodation, I hope you find the ideal situation with inspiring writing space.
I'll look forward to reading A Candle for Peace when you're ready ... all good things emerge in their own good time! x
Hello Carol Anne,
Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving such a nice comment. Now i have 'stumbled' upon your blog which i will absolutely read with great interest. Great Britain, the country, the landscapes, the english, the memories i have from all of my visits to the UK when i was a kid (mostly Devon), etc. etc. make me eager to read your (personal) stories.
Bye for now,
Marion/Lenoirrr
Beautiful little jaunt you had, I see... some wonderfully enchanting experiences conveyed in a lovely way... I feel as though I'm there with you.
